ABOUT US:
BBVE is a hybrid cafe, gift shop, art gallery and event venue. We are a local, independently-owned and operated business with no affiliation to any franchise or corporate entity. Our goal is to provide each of our guests with a consistently excellent customer experience. Simply stated, we want every guest to feel welcome and cared for from the moment a guest walks through our door to the moment they leave. This means making sure we're doing our best work all the time.
We live in the neighbourhood we serve, which means our guests are also our neighbours, our friends and our family. This special connection we share is what sets us apart from a franchise or corporately-owned business. We care deeply about this place and the people who live here: we are invested in our community.
We operate a safe and supportive workplace for our team members. Our guiding principles and codes of conduct are clearly laid out in our employee handbook. All staff participate in tip-sharing, which averages $5 per hour in addition to the hourly wage which is based on experience. Aside from a flexible schedule, we also provide access to emergency mental health counselling with a registered third party counselling service. We offer a 75% discount on staff meals during working hours, a 25% discount on all merchandise and food & beverage purchased outside of working hours.
